The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is marking its 60th anniversary in 2025 with a series of homecoming events open to students, faculty, staff, and the wider community.

Campus departments are invited to participate in a Homecoming Door Decorating Contest. The contest encourages creative displays that highlight Mountain Lion spirit and incorporate the university’s six-decade milestone. Members of the Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) Club will judge entries based on creativity, school spirit, how well the 60th anniversary is featured, and adherence to safety guidelines. Doors must not be permanently altered or damaged.

During homecoming week from September 22-26, UCCS Downtown will collect gently used professional clothing for Clyde’s Closet. This free resource, run by the T. Rowe Price Career and Innovation Center, offers attire for interviews, career fairs, and special events to UCCS students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

A tailgate event will take place on September 25 starting at 4:00 p.m. in Lot 576 across from the Ent Center. Free popcorn and entertainment will be provided. Hot dogs with chips and a drink are available for $6.50. Payment can be made by card or cash at the event or during registration.

This tailgate is part of “1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings,” an initiative led by the City of Colorado Springs to foster connections among residents (https://coloradosprings.gov/1000Gatherings). The event aims to bring together members of both UCCS and the broader Colorado Springs community.

Attendees are encouraged to support UCCS soccer teams during homecoming evening matches. The women’s team plays at 5:00 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. Both games are free for those attending the tailgate.

“Join us for 2025 UCCS Homecoming activities! Campus is celebrating homecoming and the 60-year anniversary of UCCS with a door decorating contest, clothing drive and tailgate event!”
