UCCS highlights campus resources for student success at semester start

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) has highlighted a range of campus resources available to students as the new semester begins. The university encourages students to utilize these services for academic, personal, and professional support.

Academic Advising offers help with degree planning, understanding academic policies, exploring majors, and connecting students to other resources. Students can schedule appointments for guidance on being successful during the semester.

The T. Rowe Price Career and Innovation Center provides career coaching, job search assistance, resume and cover letter reviews, prehealth coaching, and supports undecided students. It also operates Clyde’s Closet, which supplies free professional attire to students and alumni.

The Office of the Dean of Students oversees the University Student Code of Conduct and serves as an advocate for students in crisis. It directs programs that enhance education and provide life-enriching experiences.

Disability Services ensures equal access for students with documented disabilities or temporary medical conditions by offering accommodations both in-person and virtually throughout the year.

Excel Centers are available across campus to provide academic support spaces where students can study or relax. These centers offer free snacks and coffee as part of their commitment to student wellness.

Financial Aid assists with funding education through various forms of support including scholarships and student employment opportunities.

Health Services at the Wellness Center addresses most medical needs such as acute illnesses or injuries, birth control consultations, STI testing, vaccinations including flu shots, and tuberculosis screening.

The Office of Institutional Equity works to prevent sexual misconduct and discrimination while connecting individuals with confidential support resources. Their goal is to maintain an inclusive environment on campus.

Kraemer Family Library aims to meet information needs respectfully while supporting each student’s success through its services and collections.

Mental Health Services are available for those experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, suicidal thoughts or other mental health challenges. Support is accessible via phone or email contact with trained staff members.

The MOSAIC Office provides multicultural programs along with international student services, LGBTQ+ resources, First2Go program support for first-generation college students, and education abroad opportunities.

Mountain Lion Connect serves as UCCS’s events calendar where students can find out about clubs or organizations they might want to join using tools like Club Match.

First-year UCCS students have access to NearPeer—a platform designed to help them connect based on shared interests throughout their time at university.

Public Safety is managed by the UCCS Police Department which focuses on maintaining a secure community through proactive policing strategies including outreach initiatives. The UCCS Safe app connects users directly with campus police services when needed.

TELUS Health Student Support app offers 24/7 confidential mental health assistance via telephone or chat; short-term counseling appointments are also available by phone or video call.

Veterans and Military Affairs provides specialized academic and social transition support for military-affiliated students enrolled at UCCS.

Faculty and staff have access to the Colorado State Employee Assistance Program which includes up to six free individualized counseling sessions per employee.
