Leaders at UCHealth have acquired a 42-unit housing development in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, for nearly $30 million. The investment is intended to provide affordable and long-term housing options for health care workers employed at Yampa Valley Medical Center. According to UCHealth, this move aims to address ongoing housing challenges in the region and help attract and retain qualified staff.
The new development includes one-, two-, and three-bedroom units located close to the hospital. By reducing the burden of finding affordable housing, UCHealth hopes to offer employees greater stability and support its ability to deliver consistent care to residents of Steamboat Springs.
Across the United States, many communities face difficulties related to affordable housing. Workers in ski resort towns like Steamboat Springs often encounter particular obstacles when searching for reasonably priced accommodations.
