University of Colorado Board of Regents approves 22 new tenured faculty members

The University of Colorado Board of Regents has approved 22 tenure appointments and awards across its campuses, with most taking effect on August 6, 2025.

At the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, appointments with tenure were granted to Rebecca A. Ihrie and Jonathan Michael Irish in Pediatrics, and Ihab R. Kamel in Radiology, all within the School of Medicine. The board also awarded tenure to John Bankston (Physiology and Biophysics), Saketh Ram Guntupalli (Obstetrics and Gynecology), Cari R. Levy (Medicine), Rebecca L. McCullough (Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences), and Natalie Virginia Schwatka (Environmental and Occupational Health at the Colorado School of Public Health).

For CU Denver, Erin Orrick from the School of Public Affairs and David Rifkind from Architecture in the College of Architecture and Planning received tenure appointments.

At UCCS, William Wells was appointed with tenure in Criminal Justice within the College of Public Service.

CU Boulder’s appointments will take effect on August 14, 2025. Tenure was approved for Alan Bovik (Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering), Bryan Choi (School of Law), Bethany Ehlmann (Geological Sciences), Shivendranath Ganesh (Communication), Steven D. Jacobsen (Geological Sciences), Ann Lipton (School of Law), Govind Persad (School of Law), Shanti Catherine Simon (College of Music), Ann Stevens (Economics), Amanda Thein (School of Education) and Hong Tien Vu (Journalism).
