The University of Colorado’s Federal Relations and Counsel has provided an update covering several federal policy developments as of February 20, 2026. The topics addressed include government funding, leadership changes at the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a lawsuit related to Colorado energy grants, a rumored policy at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) concerning foreign-born employees, the transition of supercomputer operations from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to Wyoming, planned changes to eligibility requirements for the McNair TRIO Program by the Department of Education (ED), and considerations regarding military tuition assistance restrictions by the Department of Defense (DOW).
