Motorists traveling on US Highway 550 between Purgatory Ski Resort and Silverton should expect two full road closures on Friday, Oct. 10. The Colorado Department of Transportation announced that the closures are necessary to allow for the safe delivery of modular housing units to the Town of Silverton.
The scheduled closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the morning and again from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the afternoon. Both directions of traffic will be stopped during these times. Drivers are advised to plan their travel to avoid the closure periods.
The affected section of US 550 covers mile points 49 to 70, which is the stretch between Purgatory Ski Resort and Silverton. The closures are intended to ensure the safe transport of the oversized modular homes.
