The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will change traffic patterns at the intersection of US 85 and County Road 8 near Fort Lupton after a series of recent crashes. Starting the evening of August 24, crews will begin work to restrict the intersection to right-in, right-out movements only. The new restrictions are expected to be fully implemented by the morning of August 25.

Nighttime construction will continue for several days as workers close medians in multiple areas along the corridor to improve safety for drivers. This action follows previous efforts by CDOT about a year ago, when acceleration and deceleration lanes were added at the same location. While those changes provided some improvement, officials say that vehicles turning across US 85 have continued to pose risks as traffic volumes have grown.

CDOT collaborated with local officials on this temporary solution in response to ongoing safety concerns at the intersection.
