Viasat announced on April 20 that its ViaSat-3 F3 satellite is scheduled to launch on April 27, 2026, aboard a Falcon Heavy rocket. The company said the launch will reduce the time required for the satellite to reach its final orbit.
The announcement is significant as it marks another step in Viasat’s efforts to expand regional coverage through its ViaSat-3 constellation. The new satellite, ViaSat-3 F3, is expected to provide service across the Asia-Pacific region once operational.
According to Viasat, launching with a Falcon Heavy will allow the satellite to enter a more favorable transfer orbit. From there, electric propulsion will guide ViaSat-3 F3 into geostationary orbit. After reaching this position, the satellite will undergo several months of travel and in-orbit testing before entering service by late summer 2026.
Viasat noted that each of its ViaSat-3 satellites is designed for regional coverage. More information about the constellation can be found on Viasat’s website and additional details about the upcoming launch are available at spacex.com/launches/viasat3f3.
The company also indicated that while April 27 is targeted for liftoff, the launch window remains subject to change.
