Viasat has announced a significant increase in in-flight connectivity capacity for its business aviation customers flying over the United States. The company’s customers using Honeywell JetWave or Gogo Plane Simple Ka-band terminals are now experiencing up to five times more bandwidth, allowing support for demanding applications such as high-definition video conferencing, content streaming, and generative AI on multiple devices simultaneously. Customers using JetWave terminals can further optimize performance by updating to the latest software version available through their service provider.
Feedback from users on busy eastern US flight routes has been positive. A Large Cabin Gulfstream operator stated: “We have flown several legs since the additional capacity and new software was launched, and the Wi-Fi performance has been truly outstanding – greatly enhancing all of our online needs. We also appreciate that the software upgrade was fast and seamless, enabling our connectivity experience to be fully optimized.”
This enhancement is part of Viasat’s broader business aviation improvement program. The initiative includes uncapped speeds, improved network prioritization, and better satellite asset management.
Kai Tang, Head of Business Aviation at Viasat, commented: “JetXP already delivers our best ever in-flight broadband experience for business aviation by unleashing the full power of our global Ka-band network. We’re excited to now introduce our highest ever capacity increase over the United States for business aviation customers in direct response to their specific requirements. This is only possible due to Viasat’s dense capacity and flexibility, marking yet another example of our continuous innovation and focus on customer experience.”
JetXP was introduced less than a year ago as a unified brand combining legacy Jet ConneX and Viasat Ka services. Its development followed consultations with customers, partners, and research agencies which showed that expectations around connectivity had shifted from speed alone to overall user experience.
“Our most sophisticated users recognize that the overall experience matters more than simple speed tests and that’s where JetXP really excels,” added Tang. “It successfully builds on Viasat’s market reputation for providing consistent, reliable and high-performance global connectivity, complemented by the concierge customer service and 24/7 support of our trusted business aviation distribution partners – Collins Aerospace, Gogo and Honeywell.”
