The Weld County 38 bridge over Interstate 25 is set to reopen on November 7, 2025, nearly a month ahead of schedule. The closure was originally expected to last through December.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) closed the bridge in June as part of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project between Mead and Berthoud. During this period, crews demolished the old bridge, built in 1960, and constructed a new structure with improved safety features and increased traffic capacity. The project also added an eight-foot-wide sidewalk to support multimodal connections across I-25.

According to CDOT, “Ultimately, this closure helped invest money into permanent infrastructure in another area of the project and saved Colorado taxpayers money. Completing the reconstruction of this bridge is a major milestone, bringing the project one step closer to the finish line for a safer, more efficient I-25 North corridor.”

The WCR 38 bridge reconstruction is part of ongoing improvements along approximately 20 miles of I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins completed over the past six years. The current six-mile section will expand I-25 from Colorado Highway 66 in Mead to just south of CO 56 in Berthoud. When finished in 2028, it will mark the first time there are more than two lanes in each direction on I-25 from Denver to Fort Collins.
